2020 has been quite a year, but one thing rings true – GIA rocks! We want to take this time to recognize some of the Grande accomplishments that have happened in 2020, all made possible by our incredible staff, parents, and scholars!
- The Arizona Charter Board approved GIA’s online academy, Path to Potential – long before the COVID-19 pandemic was public knowledge. Mrs. Messer, GIA’s Executive Director, and Ashlee Miller, Director of Path to Potential, began writing the amendment to the GIA charter back in October 2019. When word spread that school’s would not physically open for the 2020-2021 school year, Path to Potential was up and running in July 2020, and ready for 4th-8th graders starting in August for the school year.
- GIA created a soccer league, the “OWLsome Kickers” in order to meet the demand that was created after the Boys and Girls Club of the Sun Corridor canceled their community sports teams due to COVID-19. The GIA league holds practice Monday-Thursday and tournaments are held on Saturday mornings. Players are well-equipped with GIA’s newly finished full-sized soccer field!
- National School Choice Week presented GIA with the School Choice Leadership Award 2020 for dedication to providing children with effective education options, and by participating in National School Choice Week.
- Last but not least, Patty Messer, GIA’s Executive Director, was awarded first place in the Greatest of the Grande 2020 awards for Best Principal by Kramer Media. Congratulations Mrs. Messer!
We at GIA want to thank everyone that made these major accomplishments possible, including everyone in the Casa Grande community who continue to show up to support GIA and be apart of the wonderful family we’ve created. Thank you!
